ALBANY, NY – Facing its toughest competition of the season, the Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team held its own against second-ranked Iowa during Armbar at the Armory. The Pioneers fell to the Hawkeyes, 35-6 on Friday.
The loss dropped the Pioneers to 0-4 while Iowa improved to 3-0.
Sacred Heart got the first points of the evening when
Mike Manta defeated Aidan Harris. The Hawkeyes won the next three bouts before SHU stopped the streak at 157 pounds.
Nick Palumbo took down Caleb Rathjen, 8-4. Unfortunately, Iowa would win the remaining matches to claim the team victory.
Up next for the Pioneers is the Keystone Classic on Sunday in Philadelphia.
