Wrestling Falls to Maryland on Senior Night

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel wrestling team fell to Maryland, 23-13, Friday night at the DAC. Desmond Pleasant, Dom Findora, Cody Walsh and Ethan Wilson were victorious for the Dragons. Drexel finishes the regular season with a 11-10 record overall.
Drexel honored six Dragons on senior day: Giuseppe Hoose, Jack Janda, Natty Lapinski, Mickey O'Malley, Gunner Spain, and Tanner Updegraff.
Pleasant got the Dragons on the board first at 125-pounds over Presden Sanchez. The Piscataway, New Jersey native had a dominant performance, collecting his team-high 14th dual win this season. Pleasant got off to a hot start, getting an early takedown. He would grab the ankle two more times on way to a major decision win, 10-1.
Findora tied the dual back up at seven apiece with a 8-2 win over Michael Pizzuto at 149-pounds. Findora pulled out to a quick lead in the first, recording two takedowns to end the first up 6-1. The Downingtown, Pa. native would add additional points to take victory.
Walsh secured the overtime win at 165-pounds over Alex Uryniak. Walsh was able to collect an escape point in the third to take the bout to extra time. The redshirt senior had Uryniak flatten out on the mat, and was able to sneak his way around to secure the three points and the 5-2 win.
Wilson had another huge victory as a starter for the Dragons against Jack Darrah. Wilson only scored one point through two periods, but got rolling in the third. With a 1:19 left, the redshirt sophomore got the trip for the takedown. He kept on the attack as Wilson nearly got the pin, collecting four back points on his way to a 8-2 win.
