      FRANK BETTUCCI, Cornell ‘53 was captain of Ithaca (NY) high school wrestling, football and golf teams prior to his attending Cornell University. At Cornell, Bettucci was a three-time EIWA champion at 147, winning the Outstanding Wrestler award in 1953. That year Bettucci led Cornell to a 3rd place finish in the NCAA tournament as he won the 147 pound title and again was named Outstanding Wrestler. Frank won the Wilkes tournament eight times between 1950 and 1961.

      In freestyle, Bettucci won National AAU championships in 1957 and 1960. He won the 1956 final Olympic Trials, but a knee injury just before the Games kept him from competing. He reached the finals of the 1960 Trials but lost a disputed decision to eventual gold medalist Shelby Wilson in the last round.

      Bettucci was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and spent most of his post-college career serving oversees on various assignments with the Agency for International Development (USAID). He was inducted into the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame in 1978.
