CHRIS CATALFO, Syracuse
‘83 was a 3-time EIWA champion for Syracuse
at 150 and 158 pounds. He was state champion from a Pascack
Hills, NJ wrestling team that went six years without a loss. A top
five seed at Nationals three times, Chris was ranked as high as
second in the nation and competed in the 1982 East-West All-Star
Classic. Catalfo placed fifth at the NCAA tournament in both
1982 and 1983, to become one of eleven multiple All-Americans for
the Orangemen. He clinched his final medal with wrestle-back
scores of 17-11; 12-9 and 13-10.
Chris was a member of the U.S.
Olympic Greco-Roman team at 180 lbs in 1984 and finished seventh at
the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The he then placed sixth and
ninth at the World Championships in 1985 and 1987, and won Gold at
the Pan American Games in 1987. Chris resides in Orlando, FL, where
he is a chiropractor.
