BRAD GLASS, Princeton
’52 in 1951 jump-started the EIWA’s
greatest decade by earning at heavyweight its first NCAA title
since 1942. He won both Easterns and Nationals finals by defeating
Penn State senior Homer Barr (NCAA 4,3,2). Glass (EIWA 1,1)
returned to Nationals at 191 in 1952 after defending his league
heavyweight crown but lost a 4-4 semi-final referee’s
decision. He finished third by beating rivals from Oklahoma and
Oklahoma State. Coached by the legendary Jimmy Reed, Brad remains
Princeton’s sole champion, complemented by six runner-up
places.
Glass also played guard on the
Tigers’ Lambert Cup winning football team. He never lost a
dual meet and eventually participated in both the 1952 and 1956
U.S. Olympic Trials. He became a lawyer in Michigan and also served
eight years in the Michigan State Legislature.
