DAN HICKS, Navy
‘95 is one of three heavyweight four-time
finalists in EIWA history. He’s one of six EIWA heavyweights
to win three titles, and one of six Midshipmen with three –
the only one since 1983. Hicks was a three-time Oklahoma state
champion, then honored in 1991 as Navy Prep’s outstanding
athlete. In 1992, he earned All-Rookie Team honors by Amateur
Wrestling News. A 4-time NCAA qualifier, Dan won ten bouts; he was
5-2 as a junior to earn 5th place. As #8 seed, he lost
to future Olympian, Kerry McCoy, 3-1, in Round Two while beating
three 1994 medalists.
Dan
owned 114 career wins, 6th-best in Academy history and
7th in win percentage. Hicks was twice a team captain
and a three-time N-Star winner. Hicks resides in Wilmington, NC and
is a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lajeune.
He’s the coach of the All-Marine Wrestling Team based
there.
