      SHEL SIEGEL, retired as President and CEO of WLVT-TV, Ch. 39 in April 1994, after serving as the founding General Manager in 1964.  Under Shel's leadership, WLVT-TV became the first television station in the USA to annually televise varsity college wrestling.  WLVT-TV offered its public TV coverage locally and nationally for 26 consecutive seasons of Lehigh wrestling, with Shel and Larry Sheridan as the announcers.  

      In 1984, Shel received the EIWA Coaches Award for Broadcasting excellence and support.  Siegel was also honored with induction into the PA State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame.  Before retiring in 1994, the National Collegiate Athletic Association recognized his lifetime of achievement in promoting college wrestling nationally by inducting him into the NCAA Television Announcers Hall of Fame.  Shel holds a B.A. and M.S. from Brown University, and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Muhlenberg College.
