Win over nationally ranked Will Ebert earns Anthony D'Alesio EIWA Wrestler of the Week

In Sunday's dual meet between the EIWA Independence Division opponents Long Island University and Binghamton, LIU's Anthony D'Alesio's match preparation and hard work paid off with a big win over Binghamton's Will Ebert.

The bout saw 2024 NCAA qualifier D'Alesio square off against no. 21 ranked Will Ebert at 184 lbs. D'Alesio came out the aggressor and scored the only offensive points of the match in his takedown of Ebert. He continued as the aggressor and added a stalling point to his tally in a 4-2 decision over Ebert.

First year LIU Head Coach John Arceri said, "Anthony's performance yesterday was a testament to the hard work he's put in and to his resilience. After his win, it's clear his dedication is paying off, and we are incredibly proud of him. As our program's first-ever Division I national qualifier, he continues to set the standard for excellence at LIU.

Going into the match, I knew his opponent was strong in scrambles and very defensive. I told Anthony to make sure every leg attack came to his feet and to finish strong. He executed the game plan perfectly, and it showed.

Although the start of the season has been challenging, Anthony has stayed focused, worked hard on and off the mat, and trusted the process. He's really starting to find his groove again, and I'm excited to see what he will accomplish during the rest of the season."
