Myles Takats (174) scores big win against Iowa State at VA Duals
Bucknell sophomore Myles Takats scored two big wins at the Virginia Duals to earn EIWA Wrestler of the Week. In Bucknell's first dual against Rider, Takats scored a 17-0 technical fall over Michael Wilson to help Bucknell secure a 23-15 victory. That match served as a primer for Takat's second match of the day where he faced no. 11 MJ Gaitain from midwest power Iowa State. Takats won his second match of the day over Gaitain in a hard fought 9-6 victory over the highly ranked Cyclone. Bucknell won four bouts vs. Iowa State, but fell short in a 28-12 loss. Bucknell was forced to forfeit 125lbs which played a key part in the dual meet's outcome.
Coach Dan Wirnsberger was pleased with Takat's performance and following the match said, ""Myles continues to improve each and every week and he is consistent with his preparation and it shows in the competition arena. Myles showed plenty of grit and determination with his two wins at the Virginia Duals against two very good opponents. He trains and competes with energy and his confidence continues to grow. I'm excited to see how his season unfolds and his best wrestling is still to come."
